Patna: Within 15 hours of an incident of loot, Patna Police on Wednesday arrested two persons involved in the loot. Police also recovered the looted valuables besides weapons used in the loot. Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said that on December 5, one Bittu Kumar had lodged a complaint with Bahadurpur police station, complaining that one Dhananjay Kumar had called him near Saidpur Hostel and looted his purse and cellphone at pistol point. He said that he had directed Bahadurpur ps SHO Omprakash to arrest those involved in the incident.

The SSP said that the SHO talked to Bittu and he revealed that recently he had given Rs 1,000 cash to Dhananjay. He said that Bittu was repeatedly asking Dhananjay to return the amount that he had borrowed from him. The victim told the police when Dhannanjay called him near Saidpur Hostel to return the amount, two persons reached there and snatched valuables from him and his friend Chandan, he said.

The SSP said that later sketches of the persons involved were made. He said that raids were on to nab Dhananjay and information regarding him was being collected by the cops. The cops came to know that Dhananjay was seen at Bahadurpur Chowk and a police team arrested him, the SSP said adding that during interrogation, Dhananjay admitted that he had carried out the loot with his associates.

The SSP said that acting on the revelations made by Dhananjay, police later arrested Rangnath alias Pahalwanji alias Balaji. He said that working on the revelations made by the arrested duo, police later recovered a pistol and cartridge used in the crime. Police also recovered a looted cellphone besides two purses from the possession of the arrested criminals, he added.

The SSP said that both the arrested persons confessed their involvement in the crime and admitted that they had borrowed Rs 1,000 from Bittu and he was pressurizing them to return the amount. He said that both the arrested persons planned to call Bittu and loot him. The SSP said that when Bittu along with his friend Chandan reached Saidpur Hostel campus, both the arrested persons looted them and escaped.

The SSP said that the arrested criminals had been identified as Rangnath alias Balaji alias Pahalwan, a native of village Ajan under Goh ps in Aurangabad, and Dhananjay Kumar, a native of village Chak under Matihani ps in Begusarai. He said that police recovered one countrymade pistol, a live cartridge, two cellphones, one knife besides purse and master key to break the locks of bike.
