Bagaha: Notorious gangster Yogendra Mallah alias Yogi Mallah, 52, Jamuna Mallah of village Jaralahiya under Naurangia police station in Bagaha Police District, surrendered before Bagaha SP Arbind Kumar Gupta on July 27, 2018.
Yogendra Mullah was wanted in about 27 heinous cases of murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, loot, dacoity under Naurangia, Piparasi, and Laukaria police stations in Bagaha police district besides over a dozen cases were lodged against him in bordering Kushinagar and Maharajganj districts in Uttar Pradesh (UP) said SP Gupta. He said that Yogendra Mallah was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head in Bihar and Rs 20,000 in UP. The gangster had late loose a reign of terror from 1992 to 2005 in the area and after that left had left the crime world and taken shelter in Nepal.

Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony red-faced after a
shocking stunt in which he was tricked into reading about her threesome live
on-air.

Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter between Phil’s male flatmate and Jackie’s mother Julie.
‘My mum came over once and when no one answered the door, she put her face to the screen to see inside and
that flatmate was right there in the living room, pants down, w***ing,’
a shocked Tony read.
The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the first time about her years-long battle
with drugs which saw her secretly go to rehab at The Betty Ford Clinic in November in 2022.

Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter between Phil’s male flatmate and Jackie’s mother Julie.
‘My mum came over once and when no one answered the door, she put her face to
the screen to see inside and that flatmate was right there in the living room, pants down, w***ing,’ a

The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the

SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) – The yuan was little changed on Friday against the dollar, but is headed for its tenth
straight weekly loss amid concerns that new tariff threatened by President-elect
Donald Trump will heighten strains on the struggling Chinese
economy.
Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump’s policies are expected to drive up U.S.
inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from falling too much.
“We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment,” Lynn Song, Greater China chief economist at ING, said in a note.
However, “we don’t expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies.” The
yuan was changing hands at 7.2549 per dollar around midday, little moved from the previous close.
Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year low of 7.2996
hit on Tuesday, it is poised to register its longest weekly losing streak since 2018.
The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and “the USD’s consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building” in the yuan, aided by ongoing attempts by China’s central
bank to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan, strategist at RBC Capital Markets.
Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China’s economic
recovery, with manufacturing activities improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities remaining weak.
China’s “economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature,” said John Browning, managing director of BANDS Financial.
He doesn’t expect huge stimulus to be announced during next week’s Central Economic Work Conference, as “Beijing’s largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins.” Top policymakers will gather
at the conference to agree on major economic goals for next year.
But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched indicators globally for clues of Beijing’s near-term policy intentions, likely
will not be officially announced until an annual parliament meeting in March.
During Trump’s first term as president, the yuan weakened about 5% against the dollar after the initial
round of U.S.
tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade tensions
escalated. Growth worries and expectations of further monetary easing by Beijing pushed China’s 10-year treasury yields below 2% to
record lows this week, worsening the yield disadvantage against the U.S., and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING’s Song expects the
onshore yuan to move within a band between 7.00-7.40

the unforgiving glare of the Venetian sun than by the movie we’d just been shown.
Last night, here in Venice, came the world premiere of the sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux The director is again Todd
Phillips, with Joaquin Phoenix once more in the title role, this time joined by Lady Gaga as what I suppose we must
call the love interest, although that would undervalue her wonderful performance.
The film is audaciously different in style from the original, not quite as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same.
It begins with a kind of sinister jauntiness with a
Joker animation in the style of a Tom & Jerry cartoon, to
show that since the events of the first movie, Arthur Fleck along with
his murderous alter ego has become a cultural phenomenon in Gotham City.
There has even been a TV movie about him.

But Arthur is behind bars, waiting to see whether he will be judged sane enough to stand trial for murder, and
in the meantime enjoying his celebrity status both with fellow prisoners and even the warders, one
of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds
him cigarettes in return for jokes.
Lady Gaga plays Lee, a fellow inmate on her way, we
suppose, to becoming Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn.
The pair hit it off at a music therapy class, and are soon mutually smitten, but Lee makes it clear that she loves the dangerously charismatic Joker, ‘clown prince of crime’, not the gloomily introspective Arthur.
Indeed, identity confusion is the theme of this film, which delves even deeper than the original
into schizophrenia and other types of mental illness.
It’s been said that Folie a Deux is a musical.
It’s not, but music looms large as an expression of Arthur and Lee’s
burgeoning love for one another. It is while watching Vincente Minnelli’s 1953 classic
The Band Wagon that Lee, who claims to have been imprisoned for arson, sets fire to
their prison wing.
The ensuing chaos provides an excellent opportunity to escape, yet Phillips and his co-writer Scott
Silver toy with our expectations throughout; each time we anticipate which way the narrative is going
to go, it confounds us by wheeling off in another direction.
The music is a constant, though, with Lady Gaga giving her interpretation of lovely old Burt Bacharach and even Motown numbers, and Phoenix more
than holding his own. There are also a couple
of swooning dance routines that make Arthur and Lee look like psychotic versions of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land.
Eventually, after Arthur’s high-profile TV appearance with a smug interviewer played by
Steve Coogan, it is time for the trial, with all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple personality disorder.
Is Arthur the defendant accused of five murders, or is it Joker?
His kindly lawyer (Catherine Keener) wants to make clear it is Arthur; Lee just as
urgently wants him to identify as Joker.

For those cinema-goers who consider Joker: Folie a Deux to be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off, you should maybe think again
All this is compellingly directed by Phillips, and superbly acted by Phoenix especially, in a role for
which he seems custom-made, but by Gaga too. We’ve known since A Star
is Born in 2018 that she can act, but she really is terrific in a bad-girl role.
They’d have loved her at St Trinians.
As for those cinema-goers who consider Joker: Folie a Deux to be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off, you should
maybe think again.
This might not quite be in the top rank of films about mental
illness, alongside all-time greats such as Psycho and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s
Nest. But it’s not too far off.
Joker: Folie a Deux opens in the UK on October 4, 2024.
