Bettiah : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visited Kumarbagh and then reached Gandhi Ashram, Bhitiharwa under Gaunaha block in West Champaran district, on November 20, 2017, in connection with Champaran Satyagrah centenary. He also visited Gandhi Basic school, Bhitiharwa, to mark completion of 100th year of its establishment and laid foundation of amulti- purpose building of Gandhi Tourism Circuit which is likely to cost about Rs 16 crore. Nitish offered flowers to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.

When the CM was addressing a gathering at Bhitiharawa, several Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) created disturbance for few minutes to draw his attention towards their demands. The CM told them that it was he who had empowered women in Bihar. He also referred to several schemes launched by the government for the development of the state. The CM was accompanied by Ministers : Madan Sahni, Khurshid Ahmad, Krishnandan Prasad Verma, Pramod Kumar and Krishna Kumar Rishi.

Bhagirathi Devi, MLA from Ramnagar constituency, informed the CM from the dais that women and tribals were being harassed by police in the name of implementing prohibition. She requested the CM to stop it. Valmiminagar MP Satish Dubey, Bettiah MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal were also present on the occasion.
