Nawada: In a vitriolic attack on Bihar state government in general and CM Nitish Kumar in particular, Union minister and Nawada BJP MP Giriraj Singh on Wednesday said, “yeh pakhandion ki sarkar hai, nautankibazon ki sarkar hai, diwaliyon ki sarkar hai, apradhion ko sanrakshan dene wali sarkar hai, jungle raj II ki sarkar hhai” (the state government is a government of sinners, of the cheats, of the bankrupts, of the patrons of criminals and of jungle raj-part II).
Giriraj’s outburst against the state government stunned the audience comprising mainly of hundreds of BPL women, who were given a free gas cylinder, stove along with regulator and connection pipe under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwalla Yojna at Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
Taking a dig at Nitish Kumar’s alleged ambition of becoming the PM in the year 2019, Giriraj said that the people would welcome Nitish as PM only if he banished crime and unemployment from the state. Under Nitish’s ‘sushashan”, even judges and cops were not safe, let alone a common man. Rapes, cases of extortion, targeting doctors and business persons by the criminals, have become the order of the day. He said that the state government even lacked funds to pay salary to its employees.
Lauding PM’s sensitivity and concern towards Indian mothers and sisters, Giriraj said that after Lal Bahadur Shastri, Narendra Modi was the most sensitive and honest prime minister the country has ever seen. He equated Lal Bahadur Shastri’s call to the nation of observing fast for a day in a week to ward off American wheat during 1965-66 to Narendra Modi’s call to the well-off to give up their gas subsidy to enable downtrodden women to avail gas connection.
Of the nearly 50 lakh gas cylinders to be provided free to those under BPL in the state within three years, Nawada’s target was 9,69,315 free gas cylinders. The minister drew applause from all when he announced that he had requested Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Gas and Petroleum minister, to establish a gas bottling plant at Nawada. At present gas coming down to Bihar was bottled at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
Giriraj distributed 100 free cylinders to women chiefly drawn from villages and advised them to cook food on gas stoves only, even if it meant eating a ‘roti’ less than usual daily quota. Warisaliganj BJP MLA Aruna Devi and 19 gas distributors from leading suppliers like Indane, HP and BP were present along with several dignitaries and officials. He warned distributors from taking extra money from the beneficiaries.
