Muzaffarpur: Fourteen new cases of Chikungunya have been detected in Bangra Vanshidhar panchayat under Kurhni block in Muzaffarpur district. All of them have been admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, after their medical examination at Primary Health Centre (PHC).
All of them were ill for the past few days and were taken to PHC by an ambulance where Dr Dharmendra Kumar examined them and confirmed they were suffering from Chikungunya. Kedar Gupta, MLA, said that all the 14 Chikungunya patients had been admitted to SKMCH. The people of Kurhni block have urged the Muzaffarpur DM to order for immediate fogging in the areas concerned.
It may be mentioned here that nine Chikungunya cases were earlier detected in urban areas increasing the number of such cases to 23 in the district. As far Dengue goes, so far 55 cases of Dengue have been detected at the government and private hospitals in the district yet fogging has been done only in few areas.
