Patna : New Zealand defeated West Indies by 204 runs in the second ODI at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand, on December 23, 2017. Replying to New Zealand’s 325/6 in 50 overs, West Indies were all out for 121 in 28 overs. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult took 7/34, his career best, in 10 overs three of them maiden while fast bowler L Ferguson took 3/17 in four overs. Boult was declared Man of the Match. New Zealand lead the three-match ODI series 2-0.
For West Indies, A Nurse was the top scorer with 27 in 33 ball while wicketkeeper S Hope made 23 in 19 balls. J Mohammad made 18 and Captain J Holder 13.
For New Zealand, openers George Worker and Colin Munro were involved in 50 run partnership for first wicket in 6.5 over. Worker made 58 in 53 deliveries hitting 4 fours and two sixes while Munro made 25 in 30 balls hitting 2 sixes and a four. Former Capain Ross Taylor made 57 in 66 balls hitting 5 fours while Henry Nicholls remained not out on 83 in 62 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes while T Astle made 49 in 45 balls hitting a six and 2 fours. Tom Latham, the stand in skipper, made 20. For West Indies, S Cottrel took 3/62 and Jason Holder 2/52. R Beaton took 1/60.
