Patna : New Zealand beat Pakistan by 15 runs in the 5th ODI at Basin Reserve, Wellington, New Zealand, on January 19, 2018, wrapping the five-match ODI  series 5-0.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, New Zealand made 271/7 in 50 overs with opener Martin Guptil scoring 100, his 13th ODI ton, in 126 balls hitting 10 fours and a six and Ross Taylor making 59, his 41st ODI fifty,  in 73 balls hitting 3 fours. Opener Colin Munro made 34 in 24 balls hitting 7 fours. Guptil and Taylor were involved in 112 run partnership for third wicket. Captain Kane Williamson made 22. For Pakistan, Rumman Raeess took 3/67, Faheem Ashraf 2/49 and Aamer Yamin 1/65.

In reply, Pakistan were all out for 256 in 49 overs with Harris Sohail making 63 in 87 balls hitting 5 fours and Shadab Khan making 54 in 77 balls hitting 5 fours. Aamer Yamin remained not out on 32 in 27 balls hiiting 3 fours and a six while Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf made made 23 each. Pakistan Captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmad  made only 3.

For New Zealand Matt Henry took 4/53 in 10 overs, Mitchell Santner 3/40 in 10 overs, Lockie Ferguson 2/64 in 10 overs and Colin de Grandhomme 1/48 in 10 overs. Grandhomme also scored an unbeaten 29 in 21 balls. Guptil was declared Player of the Match.
