Patna : New Zealand stunned India in the first ODI at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, beating them by six wickets on October 22, 2017. Electing to bat, India made 280/8 in 50 overs with captain Virat Kohli scoring 121. In reply, New Zealand made 284/4 in 49 overs with Tom Latham scoring an unbeaten 103 in 102 balls hitting 8 fours and two sixes while Ross Taylor made 95 in 100 balls with eight fours. Martin Guptil made 32 and Colin Munro scored 28. India had recently beat Australia 4-1 in the five match ODI series.
