Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on October 22, 2017, inspected different ghats from Nasriganj, Danapur, to Kangan ghat, Patna City, on a steamer and asked the offials concerned to ensure safety and cleanliness of the ghats for the Chhath festival. The CM inspected ghats along river Ganga to take stock of the arrangements for the Chhath festival. The four-day Chhath festival will begin on October 24, 2017, and  conclude on October 27 morning.

The CM asked the officials of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (BUIDCO) and Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) to construct approach roads leading to the ghats besides ensuring availability of power and cleanliness at the ghats. At the LCT ghat in Patna town, the CM directed the officials to improve the condition of steps and slopes leading to the ghat. Nitish asked the officials to construct slopes at the ghats where steps were not available. He also asked officials to erect barricades at Patipul ghat in view of the high level of water at the ghat, according to an official release.

The CM was accompanied by Water Resources Development Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, Director General of Police P K Thakur and other senior officials.
