Patna : World No 2 and eleven time champion Rafael Nadal, Spain, and World No 3 Roger Federer, Switzerland, entered the quarter-finals of French Open championship easily winning their respective Round of 16 matches at Roland Garros, Paris, France, on June 2, 2019, evening.

Second seed Nadal swept aside World No 78 Juan Ignacio Londero, 25, Argentina, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 16. Nadal broke Londero’s service 6 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. He also won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Londero. Nadal fired 6 Aces in the match to 4 by Londero. Nadal’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 74& 62 %) was much higher than that of Londero ( 63 % 39 %). Nadal won 53 service points to 43 by Londero.

Third seed Federer, the 2009 French Open Champion, brushed aside World No 78 Leonardo Mayer, 32, Argentina, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 16. Federer broke Mayer’s service 5 times in the match besides winning 3 games in a row. Federer won 55 service points to 48 by Mayer. The Swis star also fired 4 Aces in the match. His winning percentage both on his first and second serve (73 % & 82 %) was much higher than that of Mayer ( 60 % & 54 %).
