Patna : Top seed and defending champion Rafael Nadal, 33, Spain, crushed 8th seed Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, in the final of Rogers Cup at Montreal, Canada, in the wee hours on August 12, 2019, to not only retain his title but also win his 35th ATP Masters 1,000 title, two more than World No 1 Novak Djokovic’s 33. It was Nadal’s 5th Rogers Cup singles title.

Playing in his 51st ATP Masters final, a ruthless Nadal gave a lesson in tennis to Medvedev demolishing him 6-3, 6-0 in 70 minutes in the final. Medvedev was playing in his first ATP Masters final. Nadal appeared to have reserved his best for the final as he was all over the Russian in the match.

Medvedev though fired 5 Aces in the match to none by the Spaniard.But, Nadal won 4 break points in the match besides winning 7 games in a row. The Spaniard won 35 service points to 25 by the Russian, Nadal’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve (82 % & 67 %) was much higher than that of Medvedev ( 61 % 7 46 %).  Nadal was volleying at his best in the match.
