Patna : India defeated West Indies (WI) by 59 runs under DLS method in the 2nd ODI at Queen’ Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. The WI innings was reduced to 46 overs due to rain. India now lead the three-match ODI series 1-0. The first ODI was washed out due to rain. India has won the three-match T20I series 3-0.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took 4/31 in 8 overs while Mohd Shami took 2/39 in 8 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took 2/59 in 10 overs while Ravindra Jadeja took 1/15 in 4 overs and K Khaleel Ahmad 1/32 in 7 overs. Captain Virat Kohli was declared Player of the Match for his match winning 120, his 42nd ODI ton.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, India scored 279/7 in 50 overs. In reply, WI were all out for 210 in 42 overs with opener Evin Lewis scoring 65 in 80 balls hitting 8 fours and a six while Nicholas Pooran made 42 in 52 balls with 4 fours and a six. Lewis fell to Kuldeep Yadav. Opener Chris Gayle, playing his 300th ODI match, fell to Bhuvaneshwar Prasad for 11 in 24 balls. He had made 4 in the first ODI.
Shai Hope (wk) fell to Khaleel Ahmad for 5 while Shimron Hetmyer fell to Kuldeep Yadav for 18. Roston Chase fell to Bhuvaneshwar for 18 while Carlos Brahwaite fell to Ravindra Jadeja for zero. Captain Jason Holder remained unbeaten on 13.
