Patna : World No 3 Chou Tien Chen, 28, Taiwan, crushed World No 9 Kidambi Srikanth, 25, India, 21-14, 21-14 in 35 minutes to enter the semi-finals of Fuzhou China Open 2018, a BWF World Tour Super 750 event. Chen won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Srikanth. Chen, the 4th seed, also won 6 consecutive points in the match compared to 4 by Srikanth, the 5th seed. Chen leads Srikanth 3-1 head to head.
World No and top seed Kento Momota, 24, Japan, also entered the semi-finals of the tournament beating World No 6 Son Wan Ho, 30, South Korea, 21-17,21-14 in 46 minutes in the quarter-finals.
World No 2 Shi Yuqi, 22, China, defeated World No 7 Anthony Sinisuka Jinting, 22, Indonesia, in a three-game encounter 16-21, 21-14, 21-14 in 62 minutes in the quarter-finals to enter the last four stage. Yuqi won 58 rallies in the match to 49 by Jinting. He also won 6 consecutive points compared to 4 by Jinting. Yuqui leads Jinting 4-0 head to head.
Reigning Olympic champion and World No 5 Chen Long, 29, China, beat World No 19 Anders Antonsen, 21, Denmark, 21-18, 21-16 in 57 minutes in the quarter-finals to enter the semi-finals.
Chen Long will play World No 1 Kento Momota in the semi-finals on November 10 while Shi Yuqi will clash with Chou Tien Chen.
