Bettiah : Angry over slow pace of investigation into the case of murder of a local businessman in September 2017 and failure of police to arrest any of the accused, a mob attacked Gaunaha police station in West Champaran district on November 2, 2017, and pelted it with stones in which six persons including a lady constable were injured.

The mob, which had gathered ouside the police station, turned violent when the SHO, Gaunaha police station, Ranvir Jha, opened fire in the air to disperse them. The mob also vandalised the police station. The mob forced businessmen in an adjoining market to put their shutters, according to West Champaran SP. The situation was brought under control by the evening. No arrest has been made so far in connection with the incident.
