Ara : Some unidentified miscreants killed a 70 year old hermit near Sone Varsha canal at village Kurmuri under Sikarhatta police station in Bhojpur district around midnight on April 11, 2019.
Police recovered the body from the hut of the hermit on April 12, 2019, morning, and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Police seized stones and iron rod used for killing the hermit from the spot. An FIR has been lodged by Sikarhatta police station but no arrest has so far been made in this regard thoughpolice are conducting raids to arrest the miscreants. The reason behind the incident is still to be ascertained.
SHO, Sikarhatta police station, said that Suryadeo Singh Rawani, 70, son of late Jadav Karan Singh of Kurmuri village under Sikarhatta police station, had renounced the world about eight years ago. He lived in a hut near the Sone Varsha canal at Kurmuri village under a banyan tree. On April 11 night, he went to sleep after taking his meal late in the evening, but some unidentified miscreants killed him with stones and iron rod and took away a donation box with them, the SHO said. Oo April 12 morning, the villagers, during morning walk, found the body of the hermit lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the hut and informed police.
Kantu Kumar, grandson of the deceased, said that after the death of his wife, Suryadeo Singh Rawani became a hermit and lived in a hut under a banyan tree near Sone Varsha Canal at village Kurmuri.
