Sindhu beats Cai Yanyan to enter SFs of Singapore Open 2019

Patna : World No 6 P V Sindhu, India, advanced to the semi-finals of Singapore Open 2019, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 category tournament, at Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore, on April 12, 2019, defeating World N0 18 Cai Yanyan, 19, China, in a three-game thriller lasting 59 minutes.

Sindhu, the 4th seed, beat Cai Yanyan 21-13, 17-21, 21-14 in the quarter-finals on April 12. Sindhu won 59 rallies in the match to 48 by Yanyan. She also won 7 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Yanyan. This was the first meeting between the two players. Sindhu now leads Yanyan 1-0 head to head. World No 9  Saina Nehwal, India, lost in the QFs of the tournament on April 12.
