Ara : Family members were assaulted and injured on March 14, 2019, by miscreants when they protested teasing of a married family member at village Shajauli under Shahpur police station. The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital, Ara.
The injured were identified as Sunita Devi, 25, wife of Jitendra Singh of village Karakhia under Tier police station in Bhojpur district, Jitendtra Mahto, Mantosh Mahto, Satyendra Mahto, and Santosh Mahto, sons of Ishwar Dayal Mahto.
Sunita Devi said at the Sadar Hospital that she had gone to the field at Shahjauli village under Shahpur police station on March 14 morning to attend the call of nature when some miscreants of the village started misbehaving with her. When she protested and raised an alarm, some villagers and her family members rushed to her rescue. At this, the miscreants got more aggressive and thrashed her and her family members and injured five persons.
SHO, Shahpur police station, denied any case of teasing and added that both the groups clashed due their enmity. He said that police were inquiring into the matter. No FIR has been lodged so far been made in this regard.
