Minor girl crushed to death by tanker in Giridih

Giridih: A ten year old girl was crushed to death by a speeding diesel – petrol tanker at village Chadgar near Khoriahua turning under Rajdhanwar polices station in Giridih district on Wednesday afternoon.The deceased was indentified as  Seema Kumari,  daughter of Naresh Ram, a resident of the same locality.

Ram, who was working as daily wage worker at Chennai for the past several years, had recently returned to settle at his native place. Seemma was a class – II student of a Rajdhanwar based private school.According to the police, the incident took place around 12: 30 pm when the girl was crossing the main road to buy an ice-cream. Meanwhile, a speeding tanker came and crushed the girl killing her on the spot. Angry  villagers and the onlookers gathered at the spot and blocked the Giridih – Koderma – Hazaribagh main road near Khorimahua turning.  Apart from action against the culprit, they were demanding compensation to the deceased’s family.

Although, a team of government officials comprising Rajdhanwar BDO, Pyare Lal, and police station incharge, Neeraj Kumar Singh, visited the site of incident and looked into the matter, the road blockade continued till the time of reporting. “Nothing can be ascertained as we are still inquiring into the matter. But according to the villagers as well as the deceased’s family, rash driving of tanker can’t be ruled out. Anticipating public wrath, the drivers and other staff of the tanker fled away from the spot leaving the vehicle behind,” the BDO said.

“We are trying to contact the proprietor of the vehicle to discuss the compensation amount but his mobile phone is found switched of,” Singh said adding a case has been lodged with the Dhanwar police in this regard and effort were on  to clear the road.
