Ranchi (Jharkhand) : In a major embarrassment to the party, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Jharkhand, Saryu Rai, on November 17, 2019, afternoon, announced that he will be contesting against Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das as an Independent candidate from Jamshedpur East assembly constituency in Jharkhand Assembly polls. Das has been winning the Jamshedpur East seat since 1995.

Rai is upset over denial of party ticket to him. The BJP has so far released the list of its 71 nominees for the Jharkhand  Asembly polls and has put his candidature on hold. Apart from contesting from Jamshedpur East constituency against CM Raghubar Das, he will also be contesting from Jamshedpur West as an Independent, Rai said. The last date of filing nomination for both the seats is October 18, 2019. Rai will file his nominations from both the seats on November 18.

When asked whether he will get support from the opposition parties, Rai said its up to them to take a call on the matter but added several opposition leaders are in touch with him. “I will expose the CM for his misdeeds,” threatened Rai adding that he has placed his  views before top party leaders. Rai said that while he will be devoting his maximum time to Jamshedpur East, his workers will be fighting it out in Jamshedpur West.
