Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) scored 176/7 in 20 overs against Kings XI Punjab ( KXIP) in the 9th match of IPL-12 at Punjab Cricket Association I S Bindra Stadium, Mohali, on March 30, 2019, with openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock ( wk) scoring 32 and 60 runs respectively and allrounder Hardika Pandya 31. KXIP won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, MI made a solid start racing to 50 runs in just 5 overs. But, captain and opener Rohit Sharma soon fell to fast bowler Hardus Viljoen, South Africa, for 32 in 18 balls hitting 5 fours making it 51/1. Suryakumar Yadav was next to go after scoring just 11. He fell to spinner Murugan Ashwin. Quinton de Kock fell to fast bowler Mohd Shami for 60 in 39 balls hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes making it 120/3. Yuvraj Singh too fell to Murugan Ashwin for 18 in 22 balls hitting 2 fours while allrounder Keiron Polland fell to fast bowler Andrew Tye, Australia, for just 7 making it 146/5.

Krunal Pandya was next to go after scoring 10 in 5 balls hitting 2 fours. His younger brother Hardik Pandya fell to Mohd Shami for 31 in 19 balls hitting 3 fours and a six. For the second consecutive match MI’s middle order failed to click.

For KXIP, Mohammad Shami, Hardus Viljoen, and Murugan Ashwin took two wickets each while Andrew Tye took one wicket..
