Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 37 runs in the 15th match of IPL-12 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, due to brilliant performance both with bat and ball by all-rounder Hardik Pandya and top class bowling by Lashith Malinga and Jason Behrendorff. It was MI’s 100th victory in IPL. Hardik pandya was named Player of the Match.

This was MI’s second in four matches in IPL-12 and in the process they also stopped the CSK juggernaut. Chasing a target of 171 runs, CSK scored 133/8 in 20 overs with Kedar Jadhav scoring 58 in 54 balls hitting 8 fours and a six, his 4th IPL fifty, Suresh Raina 16, and captain and wicketkeeper M S Dhoni 12. CSK had won the toss but opted to bowl.

For MI, Hardik Pandya took 3/20 in 4 overs while Lashith Malinga took 3/34 in 4 overs. Fast bowler Jason Behrendorff took 2/22.  Jasprit Bumrah gave 15 runs in his first overs but came back strongly to finish 0/27 in 4 overs. Malinga has taken 26 wickets so far against CSK in IPL matches.

Batting first, MI scored 170/5 in 20 overs with Suryakumar Yadav scoring 59 in 43 balls hitting 8 fours and a six, Krunal Pandya 42 in 32 balls hitting 5 fours and a six. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 25 in 8 balls hitting 1 four and 3 sixes while Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 17 in 7 balls with 2 sixes. The two players plundered 45 runs in the last two overs. The CSK conceded 29 runs in the 20th over. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 13 while Quinton de Kock scored 4.
