New Delhi : Academic session has started in Mahatma Gandhi Central University ( MGCU), Motihari, in 2016-17 session with enrolment of 319 students. Mahendra Narain Pandey, minister of state for human resources development (HRD), informed Lok Sabha during question hour on November 28 that the university was an autonomous institution set up by the Parliament. It was free to start its academic courses.As on Novemebr 1, 2016, there were 42 teachers in the university, he said. They include one professor, four associate professors and 37 assistant professors.

More teaching staff would be appointed depending on launch of new courses and infrastructure on the campus, the minister said while  replying to the leader of opposition Malikkaarjun Khadge of Congress.
