Patna : World No 5 Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, beat 2016 champion and World No 24 Stan Wawrinka, 34, Switzerland, in four-sets at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, USA, to enter the semi-finals of US Open for the first time.
Medvedev, who recently won the Cincinnati Masters title, beat Wawrinka, the winner of three Grand Slam titles, 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the quarter-finals on September 3, 2019, late night. The Russian fired 11 Aces in the match to 10 by Wawrinka. He, however, also committed 11 double faults to 5 by Wawrinka.
