Patna : Six-time champion and World No 8 Serena Williams, 37, crushed World No 18 Wang Qiang, 27, China, in just 45 minutes in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals of US Open at New York City, USA.
Serena, winner of 23 Grand Slam singles title, demolished Wang 6-1, 6-0 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, to reach the semi-finals winning 5 break points and 7 games in a row. Incidentally, Serena served just 1 Ace in the match to none by Wang. The American won 28 service points to just 8 by Wang.
Serena’s winning percentage both on her first and second serve ( 90 % & 69 %) was much higher than that of Wang ( 17% & 45 %). It was Serena’s 100th match win at US Open.
