Patna : World No 78 Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, stunned five-time champion and World No 3 Roger Federer, 38, Switzerland, in a five-set slugfest in the quarter-finals at the US Open at New York City, USA, on September 4, 2019, early morning. Federer has won 102 career titles. Federer, however, still leads Dimitrov 7-1 Head to Head

Dimitrov upset winner of 20 Grand Slam titles Federer 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium to reach the semi-finals of US Open for the first time. Both the players fired 6 Aces in the match. But, Dimitrov won 5 break points including 2 in the 5th set to 4 by Federer, who won his 5th US Open title in 2008.

Dimitrov’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve ( 75 % & 64 %) was higher than that of Federer( 72% & 53 %). The Bulgarian also committed 7 double faults to 1 by the Swiss star. Dimitrov won 5 games in a row in the match to 4 by third seed Federer. Federer won 93 service points to 89 by the Bulgarian, who has won 8 career title. Dimitrov had reached Wimbledon semi-finals in 2014 and Australian Open semi-finals in 2017 and was World No 3 in November 2017. Dimitrov will face World No 5 Daniil Medvedev, Russia, in the SFs.
