Patna : World No 4 Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, advanced to the semi-finals of Rolex Shanghai Masters, an ATP World Tour 1,000 points event, at Shanghai, China, on October 11, 2019, beating World N0 12 Fabio Fognini, 32, Italy, in quarter-finals in straight sets.

Third seed Medvedev beat 10th seed Fognini 6-3, 7-6 in 1hr 26 minutes in quarter-finals winning 3 games in a row in the match besides winning a break point. The Russian, who is bidding for his 6th ATP World Tour final in 2019, won 49 service points to 43  by the Italian.
