Patna : India had scored 473/4 at tea on Day 2 in their first innings in the 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, with Captain Virat Kohli unbeaten on 194 in 286 balls hitting 28 fours, his 26th century in tests,  and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja unbeaten on 25 in 59 balls with 2 fours. Kohli and Jadeja have so far added 97 runs for the 5th wicket in their unbroken partnership.

India lost the wicket vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane in the second session. Rahane fell to spinner Keshav Maharaj for 59 in 168 balls with 8 fours.
