Man gets life imprisonment for killing wife for dowry

Motihari  : Additionnal district judge 12, Motihari,  Sanjay Kumar on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment one Sanjay Das for killing his wife Shobha Devi for dowry. The court also slapped a fine of  Rs 5,000  on convict Das and he was sent to Motihari central jail. According to prosecution,   Sanjay Das, a native of Dobha village under Madhuban  police station in East Champaran, married Shobha of Shyampur-Bhatha  village in Sheohar district  in 2015.

Saraswati Devi, mother of Shobha, had lodged a case with Madhuban police station alleging Shobha was being  tortured  by her husband for more dowry and on July 18 , 2015, he strangulated her to
death. The court after hearing of both sides convicted Sanjay for killing his wife.
