Main accused in BJP leader Bisheshwar Ojha murder case nabbed in Kolkata

Ara : A team of STF from Patna arrested Haresh Mishra from Pada-Resara near Hawrah railway station in Bengal on Sunday in connection with murder of former Bihar BJP Vice-President Bisheshwar Ojha. He is a resident of Sonvarsha village under Karnamepur police outpost, Shahpur, in Bhojpur district. The state government had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. His brother Brajesh Mishra, who too carries a reward of Rs  50,000  on his head, is still at large. The firearms used in the murder of Bisheshwar Ojha was  also recovered from Haresh Mishra.

IG (Operations) said that an STF that gone to Bengal arrested a person who is being identified but refrained from saying anything about the arrest of Haresh Mishra. Bhojpur SP Kshatranil  Singh too said he was not aware of the   development.

Bisheshwar Ojha son of Raj Kishore Ojha, was shot dead while his driver Rajesh Kumar Ojha and Kamaldeo Ojha, husband of Devkuli Mukhia, were seriously injured. The injured were later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital. The incident took place when he was going to Barisawan on his Scorpio in the evening on February 12, 2016. When he reached near Karnamepur-Sonbarasa Bazaar under Shahpur police station, about two dozen unidentified armed miscreants waylaid him and fired from AK-47killing him on the spot.

A named FIR was lodged with Shahpur police station against seven persons: Haresh Mishra, his brother Brajesh Mishra, sons of Shivjeet Mishra of Sonbarsha village under Karnamepur police outpost, Umakant Mishra, Tunna Mishra, Basant Mishra of Sonbarsha and Pappu Singh of Ishwarpura, by Rajnath Ojha, nephew of Bisheshwar Ojha. Police had arrested Harendra Singh alias Bhuar Singh of Ishwarpura village and kept half a dozen in custody for interrogation in this regard. The police later sent Harendra Singh to jail. Bisheshwar Ojha had contested assembly election from Shahpur assembly constituency as BJP candidate in place of his sister-in-law (brother’s wife) and sitting MLA, Munni Devi unsuccessfully. He had also unsuccessfully contested MLC election earlier.

He had joined hand with a terror of the area Shivjeet Mishra. languishing in Ara jail for about one and half a year. and started capturing land of others together. Later they became bitter enemy. Soon he became most wanted criminal of the area and involved in war of attrition with Shivjeet Mishra.

Bisheshwar’s criminal career started in 1990 when he fired to free his 100 bigha of land at Sonbarsha from illegal ccupants. The government had announced a reward of Rs 25000 on his head in 2002 and he was arrested by Delhi police in 2006 and was kept in Tihar jail. His political career started with panchayat election in 2000 and closed in 2015. ADG (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar had said Bisheshwar Ojha had criminal background and at least 15 cases of different nature had been lodged against him.

After the murder of Bisheshwar Ojha, his supporters had gone berserk and damaged property even at the Primary Health Centre, Shahpur, and the then Bhojpur SP Navin Chandra Jha  had to face the wrath of the people and was heckled.
