Patna: Two important allies of the NDA in Bihar :Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and HAM(S), will not join the Human Chain across the state supporting liquor ban on January 21. BJP is, however, joining the Human Chain. Another small partner RLSP is also against the BJP supporting Nitish Kumar’s programme.
Union Food and Consumer Affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who heads the LJP, on January 11, said the prohibition law was draconian and has been declared ultra vires by Patna High Court. There is no gain to the commonman from the liquor ban and liquor was being sold even now.
Jeetan Ram Manjhi, former Bihar chief minister and HAM(S) president, has questioned the wisdom of the BJP in supporting the Human Chain and reminded the BJP leaders that they had opposed the law in the past.
