Saharsa : The issue of construction of a Mahasetu over river Kosi at Dhengrahighat in Saharsa district is likely to be raised in Bihar assembly by Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader Prem Kumar on March 6, 2017.

The leader of opposition would also draw the attention of the House towards the indefinite fast of Babulal Shaurya, 35, since February 19, 2017, to press the demand for construction of Mahasetu over river Kosi at Dhengrahighat. About 35 persons including Ritesh Ranjan, Pravin Anand and around 30 women have also joined the indefinite fast. The leader of opposition will also visit Dhengrahighat on March 7.

Meanwhile, condition of those sitting on indefinite fast is deteriorating. A team of doctors administered saline drip to them following directive of Saharsa Civil Surgeon. Babulal Shaurya, Ritesh Ranjan and Pravin Anand said that Saharsa DM Vinod Singh Gunjiyal had on March 4 told them that the Engineer-in-chief of Bihar Pul Nirman Nigam had informed him through a letter that a DPR was being prepared for the construction of Mahasetu.  The DM requested them to call off their indefinite fast but they told him that the fast would continue till the government accepts their demand through a letter.

BJP MLA from Chatapur Niraj Kumar Singh Babloo also visited Dhengrahighat on March 5 and met those on an indefinite fast to extend his support to their demand.
