Patna : World No 29 Lakshya Sen, 18, India, lost to 2nd seed & 2017 World Champion Viktor Axelsen, 26, Denmark, in 2nd round of Yonex All England Open, an HSBC BWF Would Tour Super 1,000 Badminton Tournament, at Birmingham, England, on March 12, 2020, evening.
World No 7 Axelsen beat Lakshya Sen in straight games 21-17, 21-18 in 45 minutes in 2nd round at Arena Birmingham, England. The Dane won 42 rallies in the match to 35 by Lakshya. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. It was first meeting between the two players. Lakshya went down fighting.
World No 20 Rasmus Gemke, 23, Denmark, also entered the QFs of the tournament defeating World No 17 Shesar Hiren Rhustavito,26, Indonesia, 18-21, 21-13, 21-19 in 77 minutes in 2nd round rallying back from one game down. Shi Yu Qi won 42 rallies in the match to 26 by Peng. He won 4 consecutive points to 3by Peng. Shi now leads Peng 6-0 Head to Head.
World No 12 Wang Tzu Wei, 25, Taiwan, defeated World No 16 Kenta Nishimoto, 25, Japan, 21-16, 21-16 in 50 minutes in 2nd round to enter the QFs. Wang won 42 rallies in the match to 32 by Nishimoto. He won 4 consecutive points to 5 by the Japanese. Nishimoto, however, still leads Wang 3-1 Head to Head.
World No 13 Lee Zii Jia, 21, Malaysia, beat World No 22 Lu Guang Zu, 23, China, 21-10, 21-16 in 36 minutes in 2nd round to denter the QFs. Lee now leads Zu 2-0 Head to Head.
