Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 34 runs in the 47th match of IPL-12 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on April 28, 2019, late night, though all-rounder Hardik Pandya scored a belligerent 91 in 34 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes, his highest IPL score. MI had won the toss but opted to bowl. Hardik scored 50 in 17 balls only. KKR beat MI almost after 4 years.KKR have now 10 points from 12 games while MI have 14 points from 12 games.
Chasing a target of 233, MI could score only 198/7 in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya added 63 runs with Kieron Pollard ( 20) for the 5th wicket. He also added 64 runs with his elder brother Krunal Pandya ( 24) for the 6th wicket. MI had lost their first 4 wickets including that of openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma (captain) for 58 runs only after 8.2 overs. Quinton de Kock was out for a duck while Rohit Sharma scored 12 with 3 fours. Evin Lewis scored 15 with 1 four and 1 six. Suryakumar Yadav scored 26 in 14 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Earlier batting first, KKR scored a huge 232/2 in 20 overs with Caribbean Andre Russel scoring an unbeaten 80 in 40 balls with 6 fours and 8 sixes and opener Shubham Gill scoring 76 in 45 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Opener Chris Lynn scored 54 in 29 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
