Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 7 wickets in the 52nd match of IPL-12 at Punjab Cricket Association I S Bindra Stadium, Mohali, on May 3, 2019, late night, with opener Subham Gill scoring an unbeaten 65 in 49 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes and his opening partner Chris Lynn scoring 46 in 22 balls hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes. Replying to KXIP’s 183/6, KKR scored 185/3 in 18 overs. KXIP conceded 19 runs in the 20th over bowled by all-rounder Sam Curran. Subham Gill was declared Player of the Match
KKP captain Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 21 in 9 balls with 2 fours and a six. He and Gill added 35 runs for the 4th wicket in 19 balls registering an emphatic win over the KXIP in the process. Robin Uthappa fell to Ravichandra Ashwin for 22 in 14 balls with 2 fours and a six while all-rounder Andre Russel fell to fast bowler Mohd Shami for 24 in 14 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Earlier, batting first KXIP had scored 183/6 in 20 overs with Sam Curran scoring an unbeaten 55 in 24 balls hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. Caribbean Nicholas Pooran, 23, scored 48 in 27 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Mayank Agarwal scored 36 in 26 balls with 2 fours and a six. Openers Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul scored 14 and 2 runs respectively. Both of them fell to fast bowler Sandeep Warrier.
