Patna : Five-time former World Champion and World No 12 Lin Dan, 35, China, upset World No 7 and top seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 22, Indonesia, in three-games to advance to the semi-finals of Barfoot & Thompson New Zealand Open at Eventfinda Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand, on May 3, 2019.
Lin Dan beat Ginting 25-23, 6-21, 21-14 in 64 minutes in the quarter-finals. Dan, the 7th seed, won 52 rallies in the match to 56 by Ginting. Ginting won 7 consecutive points to 5 by Dan. Lin Dan now leads Ginting 3-2 head to head.
