Muzaffarpur : Police, in a major development, recovered a class IX student of a private Muzaffarpur school Om Ankur Prajapati and arrested five kidnappers from village Mohanpur Pokhrera in Samastipur district late April 24 night within a few hours of his kidnapping. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 7 lakh from his father Shatrughna Kumar for Ankur’s safe release.

Ankur, whose parents are teachers, was kidnapped on April 24, 2017, while going to his school, G D Mother International. Ankur is a native of village Gopalpur under Bochahan police station in Muzaffarpur district and came to school from his village. His father had lodged an FIR with Bochahan police station after he received a ransom call on his mobile phone. Police also seized the vehicle used for kidnapping Ankur besides the mobile phone used for making ransom call. Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar himself supervised the operation to recover Ankur. Police tracked the kidnappers through mobile surveillance.

Ankur was recovered from the house of Rajiv Kumar, one of the five kidnappers arrested. Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar said Rajiv happens to be an uncle of Ankur. The SSP said that the plan was to kill the kidnapped boy after getting the ransom amount. But, police team headed by DSP, East, Mohd Mutfique Ahmad, foiled their bid.
