Patna : World No 2 Karolina Pliskova, 27, Czech Republic, and World No 13 Madison Keys, 24, USA, will clash in the final of WTA Brisbane International, Brisbane, Queensland,  Australia, on January 12, 2020.

Second seed Karolina Pliskova beat reigning Australian Open Champion and World No 4 Naomi Osaka, 22, Japan, in a three-set slugfest 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 in semi-finals coming from behind on January 11, 2020. Osaka fired 16 Aces in the match to 15 by Pliskova. The Czech though won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Osaka. Pliskova won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Osaka, the 3rd seed. The Czech won 85 service points to 72 by the Japanese.

Madison Keys, the 8th seed, beat World No 7 and two-time former Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitová, 29, Czech Republic, in three-sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the semi-finals battling back from one set down on January 11. Keys, the 2017 US Open Finalist, won 7 break points in the match to 5 by Kvitová, the 5th seed. She also won 7 games in a row in the match to 3 by Kvitová. The Czech committed 4 double faults to 1 by Keys. The American won 53 service points to 40 by Kvitová.
