Jailed IAS officer gets bail

Patna: A single bench of Patna high court presided by Justice Hemant Kumar Srivastava on Tuesday granted regular bail to former Sub-divisional Officer (SDO), Mohania, Dr Jitendra Gupta, IAS, who was arrested last month on the charge of accepting bribe from truckers.
He was arrested by a vigilance investigation bureau team for allegedly accepting bribe from transporters whose trucks were seized. A raid was conducted by the vigilance team and the driver of SDO was arrested with the bribe money of Rs 80,000. The driver informed the vigilance team that the money belonged SDO, Mohania, Gupta. After his statement, Dr Gupta was also arrested and in jail since July 6, 2016. Petitioner’s advocate Y V  Giri assured the court that Gupta  will co-operate in the investigation of the case. Earlier, Dr Gupta’s bail petion was rejected by the vigilance court here.
