Patna : Bihar education minister Ashok Chaudhary on Tuesday said that atrocities on dalits even after seven decades of indepence was a slur on the country. Referring to recent attack on dalits in Gujarat, Chaudhary wondered what kind of development model it was. He was releasing a book `Bapuji Ki Deoghar Yatra’ written by Nathmal Singhania and edited by Professor Hetukar Jha at a function at Jagjivan Ram Instutute of Parliamentary Studies and Political Research, Patna. Chaudhary said that Bapuji had travelled to Deoghar in 1934 to protect the rights of dalits. Noted Gandhian Razi Ahmad said that Vinoba Bhave had also visted Deoghar where he received ear injury in a lathicharge by Pandas and became deaf.
