Muzaffarpur: Income-tax (IT) department has decided to take legal action against 11 officers posted in Muzaffarpur, West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj and Saran districts for not submitting tax deduction at source (TDS) of the government employees under their respective jurisdiction amounting to Rs 2.58 crore.
IT official (TDS) of Muzaffarpur region K K Mishra said that despite repeated directives these 11 officials belonging to six departments of the state government had not submitted the TDS of the employees to the IT department amounting to Rs 2.58 lakh. The Muzaffarpur region of the IT department comprises several districts, Mishra said. He said the IT department had freezed the accounts these six departments.
