Patna : Canadian teenage sensation Felix Auger-Aliassime and World No 9 and defending champion John Isner, 33, USA, will clash in the semi-finals of Miami Open 2019 at Hard Rock Stadium, Florida, USA, on March 29, 2019.

World No 57 Aliassime, 18, upset World No 13 Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 in the quarter-finals in 1 hr 48 minutes on March 28, 2019, to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament, an ATP Masters 1,000 point event. Aliassime broke Coric’s service thrice in the match while the latter broke his service only once. He fired 8 Aces to 7 by Coric in the match. He also won 5 games in a row in the match to 2 by Coric. Aliassime’s winning percentage both on his first and second ( 71 % & 78 %) was much higher than that of Coric (63 % & 39%).

Isner edged past World No 25 Roberto Bautista Agut, 30, Spain, in a tough contest 7-6, 7-6 in 1hr 45 minutes in the quarter-finals. Isner hammered 25 Aces in the match to just 3 by Agut, who had stunned World No 1 Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16. Isner won 60 service points to 55 by Agut.

World No 5 Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, defeated World N0 15 Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, 6-4, 6-2 in 61 minutes in the 4th round to advance to quarter-finals of the tournament. Federer served 5 Aces in the match to just 1 by Medvedev. Federer broke Medvedev’s service thrice in the match besides winning 5 games in a row. He will face World No 7 Kevin Anderson in the QFs on arch 29.
