Patna : Police arrested a Joint Commissioner of Income-Tax Department posted at Patna Ram Babu Gupta around midnight on February 20, 2018, for allegedly molesting a girl from Sikkim at her hostel room located under Digha Police Station, Patna. Gupta belongs to Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
Police arrested Gupta following written complaint lodged by the girl with Digha police station alleging Gupta molested her on February 17, 2018, night, at her hostel room at Digha, according to DSP ( Law & Order), Patna, Shibli Nomani. In a state of shock, the girl called up her father who arrived here from Sikkim. Subsequently, Gupta was arrested, Nomani said adding that the girl was sent for medical examination.
Gupta also lives at the hostel where his room is located opposite the girl’s room. The victim’s father is also a Head Constable in Sikkim.
DSP Nomani said the coaching institute run by the officer provides free boarding and tuition to meritorious students from economically deprived backgrounds for medical and engineering entrance examinations. The victim girl was preparing for medical entrance tests. The students from across the country are enrolled at the institute named Eklavya Super 50.
