Ara : Irate villagers blocked Ara-Mohania NH 30 near Nayaka Tola Mor under Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district on August 28, 2018, morning, to protest the murder of a betelshop owner Dhananjay on August 27, 2018, late evening. They burnt tyres on road and paralysed movement of vehicles. As a result, long queue of vehicles was seen on either side of the road creating problems for passengers. The protesters were raising slogans against the district administration and demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased family and arrest of the miscreants immediately.

The blockade was lifted after positive response from police officials. Later, police brought the body to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem. The betelshop owner was lynched for demanding money for cold drink from a former mukhia. A named FIR has been lodged with Jagdishpur police station but no arrest has so far been made in this regard.

SHO, Jagdishpur police station, said that about half a dozen armed persons led by a former Mukhia, Andhari Bag Panchayat, Dara Singh, reached a betelshop at village Nayaka Toal under the police station on August 27, 2018, late evening and demanded cold drink from the shopkeeper Babloo Baitha on credit who refused to give the cold drink on credit. At this, they got angry and started beating him. Hearing his cry, his father Dhananjay along with his younger son Satyam rushed to the spot. Ex-Mukhia Dara Singh allegedly hit Dhananjay with rifle butt killing him on spot and fled away. Babloo Baitha and Satyam alleged that the former Mukhia Dara Singh has criminal mentality.
