Patna : Sixth seed P V Sindhu, 25, India, crashed out of Toyota Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament, at Bangkok, Thailand, losing to 4th seed Ratchanok Intanon, 25, Thailand, in women’s singles quarter-finals on January 22, 2021.

Intanon, the 2013 World Champion, demolished 2019 World Champion P V Sindhu in straight games 21-13, 21-9 in 38 minutes reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Intanon won 42 rallies in the match to 22 by Sindhu. She won 8 consecutive points during the match to just 2 by Sindhu. Intanon now leads Sindhu 5-4 Head to Head.

Top seed Tai Tzu  Ying, 26, Taiwan, also entered the SFs of the tournament defeating Michelle Li, 29, Canada, in a three game thriller 18-21, 21-13, 21-11 in 48 minutes coming from behind.

Tai Tzu, who had lost to Carolina Marin, Spain, in the final of Yonex Thailand Open on January 17, 2021, won 60 rallies in the match to 45 by Li.  She also won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Canadian. Tai Tzu Ying now leads Li 9-2 Head to Head.
