Patna : A Police  Inspector rank officer and an Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) were caught red-handed while letting off a vehicle laden with liquor in Gopalganj district. Gopalganj SP Rashid Zaman had himself caught both the police officials.

Zaman had been receiving complaints that Baikunthpur Police Station Inspector Laxminarayan Mahto was indifferent towards implementation of prohibition enforced in Bihar on April 5, 2016. SP Zaman caught Inspector Mahto and ASI Sudhir Kumar red-handed. According to SP Zaman, both the police officers had let off a vehicle laden with liquor. He said that both of them were  arrested after grilling.
It may be mentioned here that 21 persons had lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor in Khajurbanni locality under Town police station, Gopalganj, on August 15-16 night in 2016. Soon after that, 15 police officers
including an Inspector were placed under suspension.
