Police arrest Barh rape accused

Patna : Police on October 3, 2018, arrested two persons in connection with an incident of rape on October 2, 2018, and making video of the heinous crime and uploading it on social media. The incident had taken place under Barh Sub-division of Patna district on Jitiya festival.
It may be mentioned here that a woman (50) had gone to the bank of river Ganga in Barh on October 2 to take a holy dip in the river on Jitiya. A middleage man caught her there and raped her despite her repeated pleas that
she was on fast for the festival. A youth present there made a video of the heinous act and made it viral.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said that police arrested the main accused Shivpujan Mahto, who is also a local resident. He said that Mahto was well known to the victim. The SSP said that police also arrested one Vishal, who was fishing there. He said that the youth told police that he had made the video and his friend had uploaded it on social media. The SSP said the case would be put on speedy trial.
