Patna : Twenty year old Haryana girl, Manushi Chhillar, a medical student, was on November 18, 2017, crowned Miss World 2017 at a grand event in China ending India’s dry spell of 17 years at the top pageant contest. She edged out contestants from England, France, Kenya and Mexico. Manushi, the Miss India, was presented the crown by Stephanie Del Valle, the 2016 Miss World winner from Puerto Rico, at Sanya City Arena in China.

The first and the second runners-up were Miss England Stephanie Hill and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza. Manushi is the 6th Indian to win the coveted crown, which was first won by Reita Faria in 1966.
