Fighting fire for fire, Pandya hit 14 fours and and a six in his 93 stitching a 8th wicket partnership of 99 with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, who was out for 25 in 86 balls hitting 4 fours. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took 34 balls to open his account. The seventh Indian wicket had fallen at 92. Pandya and Bhuvaneshwar brought India back into the match.
Resuming at their overnight score of 28/3, Cheteswar Pujara and Rohit Sharma were given a torrid time by the four South African pacers : Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Kagisa Rabada and Vernon Philander. Rohit’s wicket was the first to fall on the day with India’s score reading 57. Rohit scored 11 runs in 59 balls. Pujara was out for 26 in 92 balls hitting 5 fours. Pujara’s wicket when the team score was 76. R Ashwin scored 12 in 31 balls. His was the 6th wicket Indian wicket to fall at 81. Wicketkeeper Wridhhiman Saha was out without scoring when the score was 92. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar’s wicket fell at 191.
For South Africa, Steyn took 2/51, Morne Morkel 2/57, Rabada 3/34 and Vernon Philander 3/33. Pandya is top scorer from either side so far.
