Patna : India were all out for 172 runs in 59.3 overs against Sri Lanka just before lunch on the third day of the first cricket  test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 18, 2017, with Cheteswar Pujara scoring 52 runs and wicketkeeper W Saha 29 runs. Mohd Shami made 24 and R Jadeja 22 runs.

For SRi Lanka, pacer Suranga Lakmal took 4/26 in 19 0vers 12 of which were maiden. L Gamage took 2/50 in 17.3 overs, D Perera 2/19 while seamer D Shanaka took 2/36.

It was a pathetic performance from the top order Indian batsmen including K L Rahul ( 0), Captain Virat Kohli (0), Ajinkya Rahane ( 4), Shikhar Dhawan (8) and R Ashwin (4) that resulted in a poor score.
