Patna : India were bundled out for 145 in 53.2 overs in first session of play in their first innings in a dramatic collapse on Day 2 in 3rd test against England at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on February 25, 2021, as England captain Joe Root took 5/8 in 6.2 overs while fellow spinner Jack Leach took 4/54 in 20 overs. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma remained unbeaten on 10 in 20 balls hitting a six. India lead by 33 runs. England were all out for 112 in their first innings on Day 1 on February 24, 2021.

Opener Rohit Sharma top scored for India with 66 in 96 balls with 11 fours while captain Virat Kohli scored 27. Resuming at their overnight score of 99/3, India soon lost the wicket of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, wh0 fell to Jack Leach for 7 making it 114/4. Rohit Sharma too fell to Jack  Leach one run later for 66 and it was 115/5.

Rishabh Pant fell to Joe Root for 1 making it 117/6. Washington Sundar also fell to Root for zero making it 125/7.  Axar Patel also fell to Root at the same score for zero and it was 125/8. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin too fell to Root for 17 in 32 balls with 3 fours making it 134/9. Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah added 11 runs for the 10th wicket. Bumrah also fell to Root for 1.
